The Groovy Judy Band focuses on making people smile and raising vibrations by delivering her own blend of funk, rock and inspirational pop.
“While music today is focusing on simply entertaining us, I like to remind people that the message in the song, the action it brings, and the feeling it arouses is more important than if you can dance to it,” Judy says.
From the songwriting influences of Sly and the Family Stone to Jimi Hendrix, and even to touches of the melodic Beatles sound, Groovy Judy brings forth her dominating style with the energy of some of today’s best-known artists.
Her new self-titled album features thought-provoking songs like “Forgive,” “Heaven” and “Hey Dad,” and her approach is more in tune with spiritual themes like acceptance, love, and healing.
Over the last few years, Groovy Judy has produced and performed at benefits for charities and organizations such as The Leukemia Society, Food Not Bombs, The American Red Cross, Samaritan House, and The Haight Ashbury Free Clinics.
Many people recognize her by the unique hats and glasses she wears while performing. “I uses [sic] them to break the ice with people in order to communicate my message,” she says.
Come and hear Groovy Judy’s music on Saturday, September 22 from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. on the Newarks of the World stage in area #10.
